Abstract
This paper is concerned with the reduction of stress concentration around a circular hole of a plate undergoing small-strain, small rotation viscoplastic deformation. The stress concentration of this plane-stress problem is determined by using the direct boundary element method (BEM) equation of the problem. The BEM equation are discretized and solved numerically. Numerical examples are presented which demonstrate a very good stress reduction by the introduction of auxiliary holes in the loading direction.
