Abstract
The dynamic response of a group of rigid surface foundations bonded to an elastic half-space and subjected to the action of horizontally propagating Rayleigh waves is studied using the boundary element method. The Green's function for the half-space and quadratic quadrilateral isoparametric elements are adopted in the numerical computations. The effects of the frequency, the incident angle and the distance of separation between foundations on the dynamic behaviour of the massless or massive foundation system are thoroughly discussed.
