Abstract
The utilization of error estimates and adaptive meshing procedures has progressed over the last decade from research institutions to speciality programs such as Rasna to general purpose programs such as MARC for use in structural analysis. The use of these techniques is paramount to the effective use of finite element programs in the designer-analyst community. This paper will review this subject with special emphasis on nonlinear analysis.
