Abstract
This paper presents the different steps followed to adapt an existing sequential package for the analysis of flexible mechanisms to parallel processing. In the first step, we started studying the adaptation of a direct solver to shared memory computers with a small number of processors. This first parallel approach led us to reformulate the sequential algorithm in order to improve the sequential solver itself and to prepare a new version which could be more scalable on a higher number of processors.
