Abstract
A modified version of the substructuring technique used in the Finite Element method is introduced in the analysis of highly repetitive double-layer space trusses by using structural units rather than fundamental elements. Through matrix condensation, this technique makes a more efficient use of computational storage, and involves fewer steps of computations than conventional finite element analyses. Significant improvements have been added to the substructuring technique, making use of the space truss repetitive nature, and these are presented in this paper.
