Abstract
This paper presents a practical approach to determining the elastic buckling loads of unbraced semi-rigid-jointed pallet rack structures subjected to vertical loads.

The stability equations are derived from an exact analysis of the uprights and a transcendental equation in terms of the load factor is obtained. This equation is solved by the Gauss Elimination Procedure. The effects of semi-rigid connections and base plates are taken into account.

An effective algorithm is introduced to search for the fundamental buckling load and, based on the theory and the algorithm presented, a highly efficient computer program has been developed.
