Abstract
An optimized system of internal controlled electrical cartridges is developed for an efficient heating in pultrusion processes. This is done with non-direct optimization methodology based on the planning of experiments and response surface technique. The temperature control strategy executed by the heaters switch-on and -off operations is simulated by the finite element modelling (FEM) approach based on the mixed time integration scheme and nodal control volumes method and using the continuous model with lumped material properties for a cured composite. The thermal efficiency of the pultrusion process is achieved by improving the thermal distribution of the die body, optimized pull speed in relation to the ambient room temperature. An effectiveness of the developed pultrusion process producing simultaneously two rod profiles with ears is estimated and compared with the effectiveness of optimized technology utilizing external platen heaters and physical process in industrial shop.
