Abstract
This paper discusses the use of Inverse Simulation (IS) techniques based on feedback control to develop a more effective driving strategy for a demanding route for a freight rail vehicle. A multi-dynamic mathematical model of a G-Scale freight locomotive and wagon is developed and implemented in this study. The framework for the IS and the accompanying simulation implementation is shown. Results for a test route comprised of gradients and a sharp curve are presented. Finally, some conclusions are drawn regarding the use of IS in this context.
