With contributions from: J.M. Bahi, R.E. Bank, S. Benkner, J. Cai, M. Cross, M. El-Kyal, P.K. Jimack, H. Katz, M. Laaraj, L. Laemmer, G. Lonsdale, F. Magoules, J.-C. Miellou, F. Nataf, M.H.B.M. Shariff, G. Thierauf, C. Walshaw and F. Zimmermann.

This volume contains the keynote lectures presented at The Third Euro-Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing for Computational Mechanics, held in Weimar, Germany, 20-25 March 1999. Topics include: HPF for irregular applications; a new parallel domain decomposition preconditioner for an adaptive parallel finite element solver; a mesh-free parallel solver, fast and large scale methods for nonlinear ansiotropic elastic problems; asychronous iterative methods; and domain decomposition methods for non-symmetric problems.
