Summary
This paper describes the first results from the simulation phase of a project concerned with the identification and modeling of nonlinear phenomena in the wheel-rail contact area for the development of a new tramway wheel profile. The main objective of this project is the identification and modeling of nonlinear phenomena in the wheel-rail contact area for light rail vehicles, in order to develop an optimal tram wheel profile for Polish cities, taking into account the criterion of riding safety and tread wear in a lifetime.
