Summary
A coupled catenary-pantograph-vehicle-track coupled model is established in this paper. The catenary is modelled based on the analytical expressions for a nonlinear cable, in which, the initial configuration and nonlinearity can be properly described. The vehicle is considered as a multi-rigid-body system with a pantograph installed on its roof. The track with random irregularities is modelled using beam elements with an elastic foundation comprised of ballasts and sleepers. An iterative algorithm is proposed for the whole coupled model, in which the nonlinearities of the contact between the pantograph and catenary, the contact between the vehicle and track, the geometrical nonlinearity of catenary wires as well as the dropper slackness are considered. Then the influence of the random rail irregularity on the pantograph-catenary interaction is studied.
