Summary
Although the driving resistance plays an important role in the operation and energy consumption of tramways, the determination of the resistance forces are not explored adequately yet. This paper deals with the revision of previous findings whose validity has to be queried and complemented in some points. The results are based on long-term data analysis with the Dresden Measurement Tram in regular operation as well as on experimental coasting runs with seven different vehicle types. Influences of inclination, curvature, temperature and especially constructional parameters of the vehicles are pointed out by the analysis of the measured data.
