Summary
Stopping a train accurately at a predetermined position is an important task for railway signalling. One type of equipment used to aid in accomplishing this task is an automatic train stop (ATS). An ATS consists of an on-board antenna and a ground coil. For an ATS to work correctly, ground coils should be attached and positioned accurately. To attach a ground coil accurately, the position in the field is usually measured with a tape. This measuring method has some disadvantages as the measurement error can be large. Further a number of people and time are necessary. A measuring method has been developed for the ground coil position of an ATS which is highly accuracy and may reduce the labour for the measurement. In order to establish such a method, a measuring method with the network type real time kinematic - global positioning system (RTK-GPS) is used. Measuring verification suggests that the method proposed in this paper is useful to measure the ground coil position of an ATS.
