Summary
This paper presents a case study of a short-span railway bridge which has been designed according to Brazilian standards for railway bridge design. The study includes a dynamic analysis of the bridge when it is crossed by a typical urban passenger transportation system. The analysis is performed employing a dynamic interacting model which has been developed by the authors and has been presented in a previous paper. In spite of several simplifying assumptions made, preliminary results indicate that design may be over conservative.
