Summary
This paper describes the railway test facilities in Chiba Experimental Station as an integrated research field in the University of Tokyo, Institute of Industrial Science. Several research projects outlines are also included. Innovative and attractive systems are required for modern railway systems from social demands such as less energy consumption, low environmental problems, and competitive operation for air and automobiles. Recently collaborative research for these objectives has started in Japan and some of the research output has commercial use. Chiba Experimental Station exists as an environment that provides an integrated facility for these studies. In this paper, we introduce the Chiba Experimental Station as an integrated research facility.
