Summary
Transient over-voltage occurs frequently in the process of raising and lowering of a pantograph. This is a serious threat for a high speed train. Some monitoring equipment may display incorrect signals or breakdown when the over-voltage occurs. Based on the structure of high speed train, the equivalent distributed electric circuit has been established. The transmitting and reflecting characteristics of the over-voltage between each unit of the high speed train have been analysed, Experiments have also been carried out in the field. It has been demonstrated that the wave figures of the simulated results are consistent with the experimental results. However there are some difference in the amplitude. The reasons for these differences have been analysed.
