Summary
Numerous instances of structural damages were observed on the Line C of the Regional Express Network (RER). To mitigate this damage, jet grouting works were planed. This grouting modifies the ground structure and it can potentially disrupt the subterranean flows. A hydrogeological simulation was thus realized to define the possible impact of the jet grouting on the behaviour of the subterranean waters flows on the works site.

The results of this modelling show a moderate dam effect implying a low increase (around 1 cm) of the groundwater level near the works area. There is also no impact on the area located further upstream. Thus, the RER C works do not appear to impact on the alluvial groundwater flows. There is no risk of groundwater flooding for ground structures as a result of these works in the area considered by this study. This could imply the lack of significant impact on the exchange between the river and the groundwater.
