Abstract
The application of formex algebra to generating cable roof configurations is presented. Three types of rectangular cable net configuration related to three tension surfaces are considered, and the corresponding retronorms are subsequently defined. Two new formex functions are introduced in order to generate the formices representing the cable grid within a specified boundary on plan, and representing the edge beams. The formex approach for the generation of the cable roof configurations, and for the acquisition of data required for subsequent structural analysis are explained with the aid of two examples.
