Abstract
Knowledge based models (expert systems) provide an interesting new tool for decision making for construction related problems. This paper describes the nature of such systems with reference to an application for claims analysis under the international conditions of contract. Knowledge and experiences accumulated from construction contract disputes have been captured and stored in a computer in the form of an Expert System. The user obtains advice in a manner similar to consultation with a professional practitioner.
