Abstract
The Paper discusses alternatives to the conventional manual methods of producing Bills of Quantities for t h e design engineer, estimating for the design engineer, tendering for the contractor, and production of management control information for the contractor. The computer system chosen as the basis of this Paper is called Micro-RATE. The example in the Paper is based on the Method of Measurement for Road and Bridge Works (MMRB) although the principle equally applies to any method of measurement (e.g. Civil Engineers Standard Method of Measurement).
