Abstract
In this paper, a novel unique coordinate ascent mapping formulation for infinite elements. is developed. Reciprocal, exponential, and logarithmic are the decay types with which the proposed formulation is concerned. As a matter of generalisation, each decay type may be utilised through any optional decay pattern. An inherent characteristic in this postulated formulation is its capability of providing an arbitrary pole position, which is not given a due consideration in any of the earlier formulations. The mapping and shape functions for several two- and three-dimensional elements as well as a flow diagram for finite/infinite-element stiffness subroutine are presented. The proposed formulation is tested for a number of one-, two-, and three-dimensional infinite-domain problems.
