Abstract
This paper describes the infra-structure and inplementation underlying the development of the Energy Kernel System, an object-oriented environment for the creation, maintenance and validation of simulation programs. The main features include: data abstraction and encapsulation mechanism; knowledge identification and representation mechanisms and the implementation of 'atomic' and 'modular' approaches.
